So what is this site all about?
The biggest Wiki site of them all, Wikipedia, is a wonderful resource, but its angling coverage has many problems - it has an overwhelming American bias, for one thing, and tries to take an academic approach to its coverage for another. Worst of all, it is a complete shambles (have a look -
Wikipedia:Angling
). So this site is different. It is unashamedly UK-biased. It is about angling in the UK, for UK anglers first and foremost. We also aim to be less formal - still accurate, but less academic and a lot less shambolic.
The aim is to make this the largest and most comprehensive repository of information on the UK angling scene, covering all branches of the sport and all aspects of those branches, coarse, game and sea, competitive, compulsive or just for pleasure.
You can help - if you read something here that you can add to, then go ahead and add some of your knowledge. Take a look at our
WantedPages list and if you see a subject you know a bit about, go ahead - create a page and share a bit of info! Another way to get involved is to use the
TextSearch - look for something of interest, and if it is there, contribute some of your experience. If it isn't there and you think it should be, then make a page for it. (You can do this by linking from another appropriate page or just add a new page name to the base url of the site eg anglerswiki.co.uk/YourNewPage but if you do it that way, take care not to leave an orphaned page - it's not the end of the world, but wikis work better with plenty of links between information.) In general, however,
just get stuck in - much better to have a go than not!
